​ President Wilson was one of the 27 people to go to the Palace of Versailles, and with him he brought the idea of the Fourteeen Points. The first five points talked about eliminating the causes of war with free trade, freedom of the seas, disarmament, an impartial freedom, and open diplomacy substituting secret agreements. The next eight points proposed the right of National Self-Determination. this pretty much said that a group of people who feel like they are their own nation should have their own country. The fourteenth point was the most important, it called for "a general association of nations"
